Barangay Ginebra players Scottie Thompson and Nards Pinto visited the wake of the late Ateneo basketball player Rene ‘Bobet’ Baterbonia in Talacogon, Agusan del Sur on Tuesday, June 23.

The Kings pair paid their last respects to Baterbonia, who along with Nigerian player Divine Adili, died during a team building activity by the Blue Eagles in Dipaculao, Aurora on June 8.

Like Baterbonia, Thompson also played for Davao in Palarong Pambansa. The 19-year-old Ateneo freshman was the Palaro Most Valuable Player in the 2025 edition in Ilocos.

“Salamat my brother Scottie at Nards sa inyong pagbisita at pag pay ng last respect kay bobet at sa kanyang pamilya,” wrote Baterbonia’s coach Jess Evangelio in Bisaya in a Facebook post.

Baterbonia will be laid to rest in the new municipal cemetery in Talacogon on Wednesday, June 24.
