Flames engulfed a residential area in Brgy. Payatas A, Quezon City across Melencio M. Castelo Elementary School on Thursday afternoon, April 30, quickly escalating to third alarm as fire tore through houses made of light materials.
The blaze was first reported at 1:14 p.m. and rapidly intensified.
Fire authorities raised it to second alarm at 1:19 p.m. and third alarm at 1:32 p.m. as firefighters and fire volunteers from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) rushed to the scene.
Responders are working to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby structures, while authorities have yet to determine the extent of damage and possible casualties.
