A bedridden father was transported on a carabao-drawn sledge to a government payout center in Dibibi, Cabarroguis, Quirino to personally claim his financial assistance, drawing widespread attention after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The man, who lives in a mountainous area, was carried from his home by his family on a patuki (traditional sledge) because the agency distributing the aid required beneficiaries to appear in person.

His son, Roldan Elacio Pelerio, posted the video online, noting that the trip took nearly an hour depending on the pace of the carabao.

He said the agency had no plan to conduct door-to-door payouts despite his father’s condition.

Pelerio explained that he shared the video to highlight the difficulties faced by elderly and sick beneficiaries in remote areas.

Despite the challenging journey, the bedridden father was able to receive his financial assistance.
