A laborer who allegedly killed his 17-year-old former live-in partner out of jealousy in Lipa City, Batangas, surrendered to the Camarines Sur police on Saturday, Jan. 24, two days after the teenager’s body was found.
The suspect, Jerry, 37, voluntarily turned himself in to the Tinambac Municipal Police Station in Barangay San Isidro, Tinambac town, Camarines Sur, on Saturday, Jan.24, before being transferred to the custody of the Lipa City police.
Police identified the victim as Cris, a resident of Barangay Sico.
She was reported missing after failing to return home from a birth anniversary celebration in Barangay Tambo on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
On Thursday afternoon, Jan. 22, her brother discovered her lifeless body in a grassy portion of Barangay Sico while walking home from school.
He positively identified the remains as his missing sister and immediately informed their father, who reported the incident to barangay officials and local police. Investigators said Jerry became enraged upon learning that Cris was in a relationship with a woman while he was delivering financial support for their child. In a fit of jealousy, he allegedly attacked and killed her.
Jerry now faces appropriate charges as authorities continue their investigation. (Danny Estacio)
