Rubilen Amit continued her dominant run at the 2025 WPA Women’s 10-Ball World Championship after downing Chinese Taipei’s Wang Wan-Ling, 2-0, to secure a spot in the Last 16 in Bali, Indonesia on Friday, Oct. 10.
The 44-year-old Cebuana remained unbeaten in the tournament following earlier victories over Venezuela’s Mirjana Grujicic and another Taiwanese contenter Hong Xin-Yu, strengthening her bid for a historic third world title.
She joins an elite group of early qualifiers that includes defending champion Kristina Tkach and fellow winners Jasmin Ouschan of Austria, Chinese Taipei’s Chou Chieh-Yu, as well as 2024 runner-up Seo Seoa of South Korea, Taiwanese Chou Chia-chia, Japan’s Chihiro Kawahara and Kristina Zlateva of Bulgaria.
Meanwhile, several players including 2023 champion Chezka Centeno and fellow Filipina Denise Santos are still battling for a spot in the knockout stage at presstime.
Centeno is up against Vietnam’s Vang Bui Xuang, while Santos faces Singapore’s Charlene Zeet Huey Chai in the ongoing loser’s qualification rounds.
Earlier, Centeno edged out Chinese Taipei’s Wei Tzu-Chien, 2-1, while Santos also survived a 2-1 match against China’s Zhang Muyan to stay in contention.
Carmille Buhat, however, saw her campaign end after a 0-2 loss to Canada’s Brittany Bryant.
