Authorities arrested two foreigners for allegedly abducting a Taiwanese and demanding a P9-million ransom for his release on New Year’s Eve in Imus, Cavite.

The Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) said that the operatives conducted the rescue operation after receiving a complaint from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO).

The PNP-AKG reported that the victim identified as Chen Yen Shau was kidnapped on December 29, 2020 at about 1 p.m. in Parañaque City by a group of Chinese suspects.

The victim was able to contact his mother through Facebook, informing her that he had been detained and beaten badly by his abductors.

Chen said he owed an undisclosed amount to his boss and the ransom money was asked for in exchange of his immediate release.

The PNP-AKG Luzon Field Unit (LFU) first went to Pearl Marina Tower, Pacific Avenue in Parañaque City but failed to find the victim.

They then proceeded to Imus where they found the victim heavily guarded by two suspects, namely Lu Cheng and Xie Long Hui.

The victim positively identified one of the suspects as his abductors who was also allegedly responsible for the dark bruises he sustained from the torture.

The suspects are now detained at the AKG where they are awaiting the filing of appropriate charges. (Chito Chavez)
