Marikina Vice Mayor Del De Guzman has publicly apologized to the family of Alexander Cruz, the 27‑year‑old teacher who died in a road crash allegedly involving the vice mayor’s son.
In a statement, De Guzman extended his condolences and said that, as a father, he understands the grief and suffering of the Cruz family.
He admitted that no words could ease their pain but assured them of his and his son’s willingness to cooperate fully with authorities and with the victim’s family as the investigation continues.
He explained that their silence in the days following the incident was not due to indifference but out of respect for the family and to avoid interfering with the ongoing probe.
“Buong‑loob kaming makikipagtulungan, kasama ang aking anak, sa pamilya Cruz at sa mga kinauukulang awtoridad,” the vice mayor said.
De Guzman also apologized to all those affected by the tragedy, emphasizing his commitment to accountability and cooperation as the case moves forward.
