Far Eastern University goes for its fourth straight win, while host University of Santo Tomas tries to prove a point when they collide in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Saturday, March 14.

Coming off a three-game winning streak that improved their mark to 4-2, the FEU Lady Tamaraws appear to be in top form as they look to finish the first round on a high note – the same mind-set of the Tigresses who are eager to improve their 3-3 mark.

With that, expect their 3 p.m. showdown to be a dramatic and explosive one as they intend to go to the crucial second round with a positive outlook.

Clashing at 1 p.m. are tail-enders Ateneo and University of the East with both teams aching to barge into the win-column after dropping their first six games.

The Lady Tamaraws will go into the game still on cloud nine after scoring a massive 25-13, 25-21, 25-16 win over University of the Philippines.

“Kami against UST… ‘yong game namin against sa kanila, it’s more on tactical, ‘yong gagamitin namin, based do’n sa nakikita namin sa laro nila, ayaw naming i-underestimate ang UST,” said FEU head coach Tina Salak.

Out to provide Gerz Petallo the needed support are rising star Aly Devosora, Cla Loresco, Jaz Ellarina, Faida Bakanke, Lovely Lopez, and seasoned setter Tin Ubaldo.

Poyos has also a solid support cast in Reg Jurado, Jonna Perdido, Cassie Carballo, and Detdet Pepito.
The Golden Tigresses, bolstered by a 16–25, 25–13, 25–19, 25–20 triumph over the Fighting Maroons, are out to silence the critics after a slow start that saw them lose their first two games, and just recently suffered a three-set loss to the Adamson Lady Falcons.

“Mindset ng team ay one game at a time muna, tyinaga lang namin, kahit medyo alat ‘yong simula, talagang gusto naming bumawi,” said Poyos.

In men’s fray, FEU (6-0) targets to sweep the first round when it takes on the dangerous Tigers at 11 a.m., while Ateneo (2-4) and UE (1-4) aim to snap their slides in their 9 a.m. collision.
