BUCKLEY SPACE FORCE BASE, Colorado — The Philippines has further firmed up its relationship with the United States after a delegation from the Philippine Air Force (PAF) took part in a historic Public Affairs Workshop hosted by the United States Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) at Buckley Space Force Base in Colorado.
The five-day workshop that started last Feb. 16 underscored the strengthening alliance and growing interoperability between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the United States military.
Former Deputy Speaker and Philippine Air Force Reserve (PAFR) Col. Michael “Mikee” Romero led the PH delegation, along with Col. Ma Christina O. Basco, chief of the Air Force Public Affairs Office.
Col. Romero, who is the Wing Commander of the 2nd Air Force Wing Reserve, said the workshop was timely and insightful as it gave both parties a perfect platform to exchange best practices in public affairs, strategic communication, media engagement, and crisis communication.
It likewise strengthened institutional capabilities, enhanced mutual understanding, and reinforced cooperation between allied reserve forces.
Apart from Romero and Basco, other members of the PAF delegation were Lt. Col. Paulino Antonio T. Lomoljo, Commanding Officer of the 8th Air Force Reserve Center; Lt. Col. Floreto I. Solano, Officer-in-Charge of the 3rd Air Force Wing Reserve; Lt. Col. Joseph Bitangcur, Director for Public Affairs under the Office of the Assistant Chief of Air Staff for Civil-Military Operations, A-7; and Sgt Kenneth A. Madali.
The United States Air Force Reserve Command warmly welcomed the delegation, which made history as the first to take part in an official professional workshop held within a United States Space Force installation.
The bilateral workshop and the PAF participation was made possible through the leadership of PAF Commanding General Lt. Gen. Arthur M. Cordura, in coordination with his United States Air Force counterparts.
Col. Romero, meantime, emphasized the importance of international military cooperation, noting that such engagements enhance the professional capabilities of Philippine Air Force reservists while strengthening defense partnerships with key allies.
The event also highlights the enduring alliance between the Philippines and the United States and reaffirms the shared commitment of both nations to strengthening cooperation, enhancing interoperability, and advancing strategic communication capabilities among allied air and reserve forces.
