Reigning champion University of Perpetual Help displayed its championship poise and held off San Beda, 25-17, 26-24, 25-22, to go two in a row in the NCAA Season 101 Boys’ Volleyball Fiesta at the Arellano Gym in Pasay City Wednesday, Jan. 21.

After a dominant first-set showing, the Junior Altas Spikers encountered difficulties in the next two frames but still got the job done en route to their second straight win.

Up next for the Junior Altas are the San Sebastian Staglets this Monday, Jan. 26, at the same venue.

Freshman Daryll Torio delivered the goods anew for Perpetual with 16 points – all coming from attacks – on top of eight digs, while Gabriel Macatuno backed him up with nine points on six attacks, two blocks, and one ace.

Sharing the spotlight were libero JM Regorosa who had 29 excellent receptions and five digs and playmakers Mark Gale and Donald Sison.

CJ Abling and Khylle Claro paced San Beda 14 and 13 points, respectively, in a losing effort.

Meanwhile, the Letran Squires bested La Salle Greenhills, 25-20, 25-21, 25-15, to remain unblemished in two matches. The Junior Blazers, on the other hand, fell to 0-2.

Earlier, the Mapua Red Robins also notched their second consecutive triumph as they blanked the Staglets, 25-19, 25-17, 25-22.
