Police arrested a teacher in Tondo, Manila, for allegedly forcing a 12-year-old student to eat a cockroach after catching him molesting another female student inside the school.

The Manila Police District (MPD) said the incident occurred last Oct. 15 when the victim caught the suspect, identified as Nel, 53, who was also tagged as the MPD’s No. 3 most wanted person, sexually assaulting another student inside the school’s comfort room.

The victim said she tried to escape from Nel, but she was quickly caught by the suspect and brought inside the comfort room.

The suspect allegedly hurt the victim and forced her to eat a cockroach before threatening her further if she tells others about the incident.

The child, however, reported the incident to her parents and the authorities, who launched a surveillance and follow-up operation against the teacher.

Nel was arrested inside the school campus on Dec. 12 by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the Manila Regional Trial Court, Branch 38, for violating Republic Act 7610.

He denied the victim’s allegations against him, saying that the incident never happened.

Meanwhile, police said the child whom the teacher allegedly molested has yet to file charges against him. (Patrick Garcia)
