Manila Police District (MPD) operatives have arrested two suspects in the killing of a massage therapist, whose body was found inside a hotel room in Barangay 589, Sta. Mesa, Manila, on Oct. 23.

Police identified the suspects as former couple Michael John and Jacquelyn, residents of Naic, Cavite, and Parañaque City, respectively.

MPD spokesman Maj. Philip Ines said the suspects booked the 35-year-old victim, identified as Jo, for a massage therapy session at the hotel, where they allegedly proceeded to rob and kill her.

The police investigation revealed that the suspects killed Jo by strangulation and bound her hands and feet using an armband and curtain ties.

They then took the victim’s cellphones, tablet, cash, and other valuables before fleeing in different directions.

Michael John was seen on CCTV riding a motorcycle, while Jacquelyn was caught on video walking around Old Sta. Mesa before boarding a jeepney.

The suspects’ erratic behavior and swift escape drew the attention of a hotel attendant, who later discovered the victim’s bound body.

After the couple’s arrest, police discovered they were repeat offenders known for targeting massage therapists offering home services.

Both Michael John and Jacquelyn have outstanding warrants for robbery and attempted murder in Pasay City.

Police said the couple’s modus operandi involves binding their victims and stealing their belongings before leaving them for dead.

The suspects are currently detained at the MPD headquarters and face charges of robbery and murder. (Patrick Garcia)
