Two men were arrested for dumping a truckload of garbage from a Valenzuela factory at the corner of Mel Lopez Boulevard (Road-10) and Capulong Street, Barangay 105, Tondo, Manila.
According to Lt. Col. Ronald De Leon, chief of the Manila Police District (MPD) Raxabago Police Station 1, the suspects were identified as alias “Rolly,” 21, a resident of Malinis Street, Valenzuela City, and “Al,” 31, a resident of Muelle De Binondo, Manila.
Police said the two were apprehended by environmental rangers from the Department of Public Services (DPS), in coordination with personnel from the 10 Charlie Sector Line Beat 1 of MPD Raxabago, led by Cpt. Ryan Jay D. Balagtas.
Investigation revealed that the suspects’ truck was loaded with wet cardboard waste, allegedly originating from a warehouse or factory in Valenzuela.
Authorities estimated the dumped garbage to weigh around 100 kilograms.
The MPD and DPS have been closely monitoring the area to ensure cleanliness, order, and public safety in line with the directive of former Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.
The two suspects were brought to the MPD Police Station 1 and are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9003, also known as the “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.”
The truck van used in the illegal dumping was also seized.
Meanwhile, MPD is urging residents and barangay officials of Tondo to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness and discipline along Road-10. (Diann Calucin)
