Archrivals Global-Cebu and Ceres-Negros hope to sustain their aggregate leads and arrange a title showdown in this weekend’s two second leg matches of the Philippines Football League semifinals.

Global looks to complete an upset of top seed Meralco-Manila tonight at the Rizal Memorial Stadium while Ceres tries to finish off Kaya-Makati tomorrow evening at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.

The winner of the two semifinals will advance to a one-game match for the championship on Dec. 16.

Both clubs leaned on last-gasp goals in last weekend’s opening legs to claim a headstart in the semis.

Wesley dos Santos and Pika Minegishi delivered the tying and winning goals as Global – forced to play its home tie in Manila because of the unavailability of the Cebu City Sports Center – posted a 2-1 result.

However, Meralco holds the away-goal advantage courtesy of a penalty kick by Taj Minniecon early in the second half.

The Sparks can progress to the final even with a 1-0 win because of that said incentive.

Ceres also owns the away-goal edge after Stephan Schrock delivered the only goal of last week’s opening leg at the University of Makati Field.
