Laborer yields ₱10-M shabu in Cebu bust

CEBU CITY — Close to ₱10 million worth of suspected shabu was seized from a construction worker in Barangay Pardo here.

The 30‑year‑old suspect, identified only as John, yielded 27 packs of suspected shabu during a buy‑bust operation past 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, according to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Central Visayas (PDEA‑7) Regional Director Joel Plaza.

Plaza said the seized shabu has an estimated average market value of ₱9,690,000. He added that the suspect was considered a high‑value target.

Records showed the suspect was previously arrested by the Philippine National Police on Aug. 13, 2023, for violation of Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Based on monitoring, PDEA‑7 said the suspect had been selling two kilos of shabu per week.
