Vice President Sara Duterte on Tuesday, June 30, escalated her criticism of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration, alleging that the government has “weaponized the justice system” to silence dissent.

In a statement, Duterte claimed that instead of addressing pressing national concerns such as rising prices, job insecurity, and economic hardship, the administration has resorted to intimidation tactics.

She accused Malacañang of filing cases and imprisoning critics, whistleblowers, and individuals who question the President’s competence or raise allegations against him.

“It has weaponized the justice system by filing cases against and imprisoning individuals who dare speak out against alleged corruption and abuses in Malacañang,” Duterte said.

She warned that such actions undermine free expression, democratic accountability, and the space for legitimate political dissent.

Duterte added that the issue is “no longer a matter of politics” but one that concerns the honor of the State and the future of Filipinos.

Her remarks came after crowds gathered along EDSA, which she described as reflecting growing public discontent with the Marcos administration.
