A truck helper died after leaping from a moving 12-wheel wing van that crashed into a traffic light post along Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City early Wednesday morning, October 29.

The van, loaded with sacks of flour, was being driven by his companion when the brakes allegedly malfunctioned as they were about to turn left onto Congressional Avenue.

In a desperate attempt to escape, the helper jumped from the vehicle and landed headfirst on the pavement. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The driver and another truck helper were injured in the crash that occurred around 3:00 a.m.

Clearing operations were conducted to remove the damaged truck and spilled cargo.

The accident caused heavy traffic congestion along Mindanao Avenue and nearby roads, with only a portion of the area was passable. (Allysa Nievera)
