Showbiz got an unexpected round of applause this week—not from screaming fans but from the country’s Filipino-Chinese business community.
As the Mid-Autumn Festival draws near, the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) says it’s proud of the entertainers who are using their spotlight for something bigger than box-office hits.
FFCCCII President Victor Lim name-checked a powerhouse lineup of artists—Sarah Geronimo, Anne Curtis, Vice Ganda, Catriona Gray, David Licauco, Dingdong Dantes, Angel Locsin, Dustin Yu, Nadine Lustre, Kim Chiu, Jodi Sta. Maria, and more—for bravely calling out corruption and championing good governance.
“We admire the courage and patriotism of young people raising their voices for transparency,” Lim said, adding that these stars prove celebrity clout can fuel social change.

Lim pointed out that when public figures demand accountability, they help create a healthier climate for both culture and commerce. “It benefits everyone—artists, audiences, and the business sector—when integrity becomes part of the national conversation,” he noted.
After the standing ovation for showbiz idealism, Lim turned to something sweeter: the upcoming Mooncake Festival on October 6. Known for family reunions and moonlit lanterns, it’s the second most important holiday in Chinese tradition. The federation will celebrate with prayers for peace and continued charity work—building rural schoolhouses, aiding typhoon-hit communities, and supporting volunteer fire brigades.
For FFCCCII, the glitter of celebrity advocacy and the glow of the harvest moon share common ground: unity, gratitude, and hope. As mooncakes are sliced and lanterns rise, Lim hopes the stars—onstage and in the sky—keep inspiring Filipinos to aim for a brighter, more accountable future.
