Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy was rushed to a public hospital after experiencing breathing difficulties, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) confirmed Tuesday, Sept. 30.

BJMP spokesperson Supt. Jayrex Bustinera said Quiboloy was diagnosed with “Community Acquired Pneumonia (Moderate Risk)” and remains under medical care in accordance with BJMP protocols for persons deprived of liberty.

Quiboloy, who is detained at the Pasig City Jail by court order, was previously hospitalized for pneumonia in January and returned to detention on Feb. 12 after recovering.

Bustinera noted that the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159 was promptly informed of the detainee’s condition.

On Sept. 15, the court authorized his hospitalization.

“As of Sept. 30, he is stable and recovering,” Bustinera said.

Quiboloy faces a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge under Section 4(a) of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended. He is also charged under Sections 5(b) and 10(a) of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act. (Chito Chavez)
