Police said on Thursday, Sept. 4, that protesters who threw mud and vandalized the gate of St. Gerrard Construction office — owned by the Discaya family — may face charges of malicious mischief.
Pasig City Police Station Chief Hendrix Mangaldan said in a media interview that, with or without a permit, authorities will exercise maximum tolerance. However, incidents such as mud-throwing and vandalism should not be tolerated.
“Kasi, they might be committing the case of malicious mischief,” he said, adding that these actions are punishable by law.
Around 12 p.m., Eastern Police District (EPD) Director Aden T. Lagradante reportedly went to the area to assess the situation and speak with the Discaya family to see if they are willing to file a complaint against the protesters.
As of this writing, no other statement has been released regarding whether the protesters will face charges.
However, the Discaya family’s lawyer, Cornelio Samaniego III, said they will file a criminal case against those behind the protest. (Richielyn Canlas)
