Gian Mamuyac is excited to pick the brain of a veteran player like Stanley Pringle as they team up at Rain or Shine for the upcoming PBA 50th Season.
One of the young guns of the Elasto Painters along with Adrian Nocum, Andrei Caracut and Santi Santillan, Mamuyac said that the veteran experience that Pringle will provide is not only huge for the team but as well as for them the up-and-coming stars of the squad.
“Alam naman natin kung gaano ka-talented po si Kuya Stan. And bilang young player, si Kuya Gabe (Norwood), idol ko eh. Lagi ko tinatanong and learning from him every day sa practice, dinagdagan mo pa ng si Kuya Stan so I’m just being a sponge, learning as much as I can,“ said Mamuyac.
Although Pringle has yet to join practice as he is still in the US, waiting for his wife to give birth to their child, Mamuyac is already looking forward to having him in their training.
“Actually wala pa naman siya. Hindi pa namin siya nakakapractice. Pero excited ako pag dumating na siya, kukulitin at gukulitin ko si Kuya Stan,“ he added.
Mamuyac is hopeful that Pringle, who is a four-time PBA champion, is the missing pieces to the puzzle for the Elasto Painters as they hope to get over the hump and reach the Finals.
Rain or Shine has been a Final Four contender that past four conferences but they cannot get past the semifinals.
“Yon naman ang goal namin palagi. And sabi nga ni coach Yeng, na since na-reach namin ng semis four straight times, anything less than that is, we count as disappointment. So hopefully makapag-finals naman,“ said Mamuyac.
“Malagpasan naman namin yung semis kasi nakakasawa na matalo sa semis eh. Pero sana naman po, hopefully, makalagpas kami ng semis and eventually win the championship for coach Yeng,“ he added.
