Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla has formally filed his application for the position of Ombudsman, which will be vacated on July 27 upon the retirement of Ombudsman Samuel R. Martires.
“Nai-file na kahapon,” he said on Friday, July 4, at the sidelines of an event at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
Remulla submitted his application to the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) which, after deliberations and public interviews, will submit its nominees to President Marcos for appointment.
The JBC is a constitutional office that accepts, screens and nominates appointments in the judiciary, the Office of the Ombudsman and its deputies, and the Legal Education Board.
The council is headed by Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo as ex-officio chairperson.
The JBC had earlier announced that the application or nomination for the Ombudsman post ends on July 4. (Jeffrey Damicog)
