Terrence Romeo is currently at a crossroads.

His contract with Terrafirma Dyip is about to expire this August and he admitted, “Hindi ko pa talaga alam kung ano ang susunod kong step in terms of my career.”

He made clear, “Gusto ko pa rin maglaro ng basketball at healthy rin naman tayo pero wala, hindi ko pa talaga alam kung ano susunod na mangyayari. Sa totoo lang, wala pa akong concret plans at the moment pero yeah, I’m studying my options.”

Asked if he is open to try other endeavors aside from basketball, like say, acting, Terrence smiled and said, “Hindi ko alam kung may talent ako diyan pero why not? Kung may offer, tignan natin.”

As to what genre, he shared, “Mahilig ako sa action so, siguro ‘yun, kahit kontrabida.”

As to possible leading ladies, “Crush ko dati si Jessie Mendiola pero siguro kahit sino, okay lang din…”

Considered among the best shooting guards to suit up in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), Terrence made a huge mark early in his career.

He admitted, “Pumasok sa ulo ko ‘yang fame na ‘yan. Ang aga ko rin kasi sumikat sa PBA. Mga 21 or 22 ako…”

Though he enjoyed his popularity given the many perks that came with it, the 33-year-old noted,  “‘Yung mga tao, kapag sikat ka, gustong kasama ka. Tapos nung may problems na, lahat sila nawala…”

Note that at the height of his fame, Terrence was embroiled in numerous scandals.

Looking back, he related, “Ang dami kong regrets, gaya ng una, huwag kang masyado magtiwala kasi yung taong pinagkakatiwalaan mo maaring siya pa ang manloko sa ‘yo.”

Terrence is thankful that he was able to surmount past hurdles.

“Well, thank you rin talaga sa Diyos dahil tuloy-tuloy pa rin tayo. Marami pa rin ang nagtitiwala at marami pa ring opportunities na dumarating,” he said.

“So, ako talaga, at this point, gusto kong maging inspiration sa mga kabataan,” he said. “Gusto ko kapag napapanood nila ako sa TV, yung proud sila.”

“Kaya nga payo ko sa mga kabataan diyan, focus lang kayo. Huwag kayong magpabuyo. At saka wag kayong manloko o mangtapak ng tao. At magdasal parati.”

Terrence was recently launched as ambassador of ABCVIP, an online gaming company.

Doesn’t it run counter to his beliefs?

He maintained, “Hindi lang basta online gaming ang ABCVIP, may charity component sila. May regular community service sila. Part of their earnings go to out-of-school-youths, abandoned children, ‘yung mga homeless… e ako, ‘yun talaga ang gusto ko. Gusto ko talagang maging part ng ganyan kasi very inspiring at empowering, lalo na sa mga kabataan.”
