Ex-cop wanted for rape arrested in Batangas

A former police officer tagged by the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) as one of the most wanted persons in the Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR) was captured by Baguio City cops in Batangas on Tuesday.

Baguio City Police Office director Col. Allen Rae Co said the suspect, Ronald Salcedo Olarte, was nabbed at about 7:20 p.m. on Balintawak Road in Lipa City, Batangas.

Co said Olarte was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Iluminda Cabato of RTC Branch 59, Baguio City for a case of incestuous rape.

Olarte is included in the DILG’s list of top most wanted persons in CAR with a P135,000 bounty on his head.

Olarte was dismissed from the police organization in February 2006 and was a suspect in a rape case committed on January 1, 2006 in Baguio City.

The ex-cop is now under the temporary custody of Lipa City Police pending his presentation to the court that issued the warrant.
