Padilla and her boyfriend Rico Hibese, 39, were fishing on board a banca with markings “Princess May” at around 12:40 p.m. when they encountered huge waves that wrecked their boat.

Hirbese desperately tried to rescue her partner who waved at him, but to no avail as strong waves also swept him.

The two were recovered by Ronaldo delos Santos in Barangay Arnedo, Bolinao Pangasinan, who was also fishing in the area.

They were rushed to Rillera Medical Hospital in Bolinao, but Padilla was declared dead on arrival. (Liezle Basa Inigo)
