Man slits wife’s neck in front of children

BACOLOD CITY – The reunion of a woman with her family turned tragic when she was killed by her husband in front of their children during an argument over money matter at their house in Purok 1, Barangay Yao Yao, Cauayan, Negros Occidental on Wednesday.

Police identified the victim as Precilla Mediona, 50, of the said village.

Staff Sergeant Cyrus Maquiling, investigator of Cauayan Municipal Police Station, said the victim arrived in the province last December and stayed at her daughter’s house for a while after she figured into series of argument with her husband, Eduardo Mediona, 58.

Maquiling said their argument came after the victim asked her husband about the money she sent for the renovation of their house.

Maquiling said the victim was sending money to the suspect while she was working in Manila for two years.

However, she was surprised when she saw that their house looks the same when she arrived home.

On January 13, the victim returned to their house, where they figured into another argument.

Maquiling said the suspect took a knife and allegedly slit his wife’s neck, as witnessed by their other children at home.

The victim was able to run and seek help from the nearby barangay hall. She was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared dead.

Maquiling said the suspect is at large but will be charged with parricide.
