10-year-old girl rescued from Butuan cybersex den

CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Police rescued on Friday a 10-year-old girl from a cybersex den being operated by a woman in Barangay Golden Ribbon here.

Caraga Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) director Brig. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat, Jr. said they arrested the operator of the cybersex den during an entrapment operation and serving of a search warrant at her residence.

The 30-year-old woman is still undergoing investigation, according to Caramat.

Police operatives raided the cybersex den at about 9:44 a.m., Friday.

They rescued the girl and confiscated three cellular phones, laptop and desktop computers used by the suspect in her illegal activities.

Caramat said the operation was launched after receiving a report about the cybersex operation which was confirmed when its operator received the payment from a cop acting as a customer.

The suspect will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9208 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003) as amended by RA 10364 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012), and RA 7610 (Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act).
