The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday said that there would be continued rains across the country despite the exit of a low-pressure area (LPA) from the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

DOST-PAGASA Weather Specialist Samuel Duran said in a 4 a.m. public weather forecast that these potential rains would be caused by the prevailing Southwest Monsoon or “Habagat.”

“Umiiral pa rin po ang Habagat at ‘yung binabantayan nating Low Pressure Area ay lumabas napo ng Philippine Area of Responsibility,” Duran said. LPAs are potential cyclones.

In Luzon, Habagat-triggered rains will occur in Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Palawan, at Mindoro provinces. He said the rains can start in the morning, stop, and then potentially resume in the afternoon and evening.

For the rest of Luzon and Metro Manila, cloudy weather with scattered rains will prevail during the day and most likely for the entire weekend, the weather forecaster said. It would be sunny in the metropolis by Monday. It will be the same for Visayas and Mindanao. (Ellson A. Quismorio)
