Filipinos in Kenya told to avoid Westlands following terror attack

Filipinos in Nairobi, Kenya are advised to avoid the Westlands neighborhood following a suspected terror attack inside an upscale hotel in the area.

On Tuesday, gunmen stormed the DusitD2 compound, a posh hotel and office complex, located in the affluent neighborhood of Westlands.

Ambassador to Kenya Norman Garibay said there were five fatalities in the attack that took place just three kilometers from the embassy. The embassy is currently on a lockdown.

In its advisory, the embassy urged the more than 400 Filipinos in Nairobi to remain indoors and to avoid the area.

The Department of Foreign Affairs continues to monitor the situation in the Kenyan capital. (PNA)
