ZAMBOANGA CITY – The body of a female passenger from the ill-fated MV Trisha Kerstin 3 was found floating in the waters off Isabela City, Basilan province, on Thursday, March 20, nearly two months after the tragedy.
The passenger was identified as Nurshaina Jalaide, a resident of Barangay Bakud, Siasi municipality, Sulu province.
Her remains were discovered around noon by a fisherman and subsequently retrieved by authorities. Officials have coordinated with Jalaide’s family and relevant agencies to ensure proper documentation and handling of her remains.
Jalaide was among the missing passengers listed on a popular social media account. Her relatives had posted numerous appeals after she went missing following the sinking of the passenger vessel.
The roll-on/roll-off ferry sank near Basilan province in the Bangsamoro region on January 26, 2026, leaving at least 65 people dead and many others missing. (Liza Jocson)
