Crowd-favorite Donna Vekic cruised into the finals with a 6-2, 6-4 drubbing of Tatiana Prozorova in their semis clash in the WTA 125 Philippine Women’s Open here at Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in Manila Friday, Jan. 30.

The rainy and breezy condition earlier in the afternoon failed to slow down the 29-year-old Vekic as the Croatian flashed her fiery form to disarm Prozorova to the cheers of her Filipino fans.

Following her win over the unseeded Russian, the No. 4 seed Vekic awaits for her finals foe against either tournament’s No. 3 Argentinian Solano Sierra or No. 5 Colombian Camila Osorio this Saturday, Jan. 31.

The two South American bets are currently battling as of posting time.

After No. 2 seed Alex Eala’s exit in the quarters, Vekic became the favorite, particularly by Filipino fans, because of her charm.

The world No. 72 made her way to the finals after beating the likes of Chinese Lin Zhu (6-4, 6-3), Marria Tkacheva (6-1, 6-2), and Japanese Kyoka Okamura (6-2, 6-2) in the prior rounds.
