There’s a new reason for Wattpad fans to get excited as “My Husband Is a Mafia Boss”, one of the platform’s most talked-about stories, makes its way to the screen on Viva One.

Based on the hit novel by the late Diana Marie Serrato Maranan—known to readers as Yanalovesyouu—the series brings together Rhen Escaño and Joseph Marco for the first time.

The story follows a seemingly ordinary college student whose life takes a dramatic turn after meeting a young billionaire CEO—who, as fate would have it, is secretly a mafia boss. It’s a premise that has clearly struck a chord, racking up more than 218 million reads on Wattpad and building a fiercely loyal fanbase over the years.

Director Fifth Solomon, who helms the adaptation, is well aware of the pressure—and the thrill—that comes with translating such a beloved story to screen.

“This is my latest project with Viva, and I’m really grateful for the opportunity,” he shared. “The story already has a huge following, so I’m excited—and honored—to bring it to life.”

At the center of the series is Aemie Romero, portrayed by Rhen. A third-year college student, Aemie is cheerful, energetic, and impossible to ignore. She’s adored by many, even when her childish, clumsy side gets the best of her. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she finds herself in a marriage she never saw coming.

For Rhen, the role feels both personal and refreshing. “I’m really excited about this,” she said. “I prayed hard for this opportunity, and I’m going to give my all. I want the fans to feel that.”

Known for her versatility, Rhen shows a different side of herself in Aemie—someone playful and bubbly, but also strong and ready to face danger head-on. “Kakaiba ito kasi makulit ang character ko,” she added. “She’s funny and bubbly, but she’s also a fighter.”

Opposite her is Joseph as Ezekiel “Zeke” Roswell—an engineer, billionaire CEO, and a man who keeps people at arm’s length. Behind his polished exterior, however, lies a dangerous secret: he’s also a mafia boss. Everything begins to change when Aemie enters his life.

Joseph shared his excitement about the project and his first on-screen pairing with Rhen. “I’m really looking forward to working with her and the rest of the cast,” he said. “With Direk Fifth guiding us, I’m confident we’ll create something beautiful and entertaining.”

Supporting the lead pair is a mix of familiar faces and rising talents. Frost Sandoval plays Kaizer Maxwell Lamperouge, Zeke’s trusted right-hand man, while Sara Joe portrays Amesyl Cross, Aemie’s cousin and closest confidante. Aemie’s group of friends is brought to life by Jaime Yllana, Icee Ejercito, Kyosu Guinto, Dann Aquino, and Aaliyah Coco.

The Roswell Mafia Group includes R-ji Lim, PJ Rosario, and Maru Delgado, while the ensemble cast is rounded out by Simon Ibarra, Roberta Tamondong, Hazel Calawod, Naz San Juan, MO Mitchell, Priscilla Meirelles, Kelley Day, Yuki Sonoda, Bianca Santos, Sandex Gavin, Anjo Damiles, Akihiro Blanco, Edsel Santiago, and Ara Mina.

For Director Fifth, the appeal of the series lies in its range. “This will be fun,” he promised. “There’s action, drama, comedy, romance, tension, suspense—everything. So watch out for it.”
