Veteran Rubilen Amit guns for a historic third title when she banners the country’s campaign in the 2025 WPA Women’s 10-Ball World Championship slated on Wednesday, Oct. 8, in Bali, Indonesia.
The 44-year-old Cebuana has been searching for a follow up to her 2013 conquest over English rival Kelly Fisher in hopes of becoming the first player to win three titles.
She clinched the inaugural staging that the country hosted in 2009 over Chinese Taipei’s Liu Hsin-mei.
“Touchdown Bali!” Amit wrote on social media last Sunday, Oct. 5.
“Praying that I will be able to bring out my game and do my best. Thank you everyone,” she added.
Amit opens her campaign against Venezuela’s Mirjana Grujicic on Tuesday.
Also competing is Chezka Centeno, who seeks her second title after winning it in 2023 in Austria over China’s Han Yu. She is set to meet Canada’s Brittany Bryant.
Centeno, 26, came close to a back-to-back crown but lost in the semifinals to Korean Seoa Seo in last year’s edition held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Carmille Buhat, Rhaki Constantino, Sofhia Rosales and Denise Santos make up the PH contingent.
Buhat collides with Canada’s Joanne Ashton, Constantino plays Margarita Fefilova, Santos clashes with Netherlands’ Adriana Villar, and Rosales squares off with Okuda Tamami of Japan.
A total of 64 players are competing in the tournament that has a total prize fund of $175,000 (around P10.1 million). The champion player will receive $50,000 (around P2.9 million).
