A 31-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to bribe Taguig police officers with P10,000 in exchange for the release of her detained cousin.
The suspect, identified as PBG, a resident of Virginia Extension, Barangay 130, Pasay City, was apprehended at about 5:10 p.m. on Sept. 21 inside the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) office in Barangay Tuktukan.
Police said the woman approached SDEU chief Capt. Kenny Khamar Khayad and deputy chief Lt. Eson Lacwasan to negotiate the release of her cousin, known as alias Ivan, who had been arrested earlier that day during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Fort Bonifacio.
During the conversation, PBG pulled out a brown envelope from her shorts and handed it to Khayad.
Upon inspection, the envelope contained P10,000 in cash.
SDEU officers immediately arrested the woman. She now faces charges for violating Article 212 of the Revised Penal Code (corruption of public officials).
Taguig police said they do not condone nor tolerate any form of corruption. (Jonathan Hicap)
