The Manila city government will enforce a parking ban on select roads, following a resolution jointly approved by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Metro Manila Council (MMC), and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The resolution, which prohibits parking along national primary roads, was passed during the regular MMC meeting held on Tuesday, September 16, at the MMDA headquarters in Pasig City.

The full list of affected roads is expected to be released soon.

Roads identified as absolute no-parking zones include C.M. Recto Avenue, President Quirino Avenue, and Roxas Boulevard.

Also covered under the no parking zone areas are Agusto Francisco Street and Alfonso Mendoza Street.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has opposed the implementation of a parking ban on a portion of C.M. Recto Avenue, particularly the stretch from Asuncion to Dagupan streets, noting its impact on local commerce.

“Bagsakan ito ng gulay,” Domagoso said.

The MMC meeting was presided over by MMDA Chair Don Artes and attended by Metro Manila mayors and DILG officials. (Diann Calucin)
