Coach Olsen Racela bares Perpetual’s 20-man pool

University of Perpetual Help Altas head coach Olsen Racela has revealed his 20-man pool for the upcoming National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 101 which is set to open on Oct. 1, Wednesday, at the Araneta Coliseum.

Team captain John Cedrick Abis is expected to lead the charge along with fellow graduating players Paul Boral and Jearico Nunez.

Also with the team are seniors Shawn Orgo, Angelo Gelsano, sophomores Mark Derick Gojo Cruz, Emman Pizarro.

Still in the team are transferees Patrick Sleat and Kevin Guibao from FEU, LA Casinillo from NU, JM Talabut, Josh Alcantara and Allen Maglupay from UE and brothers Kenji Duremdez and Kylle Magdangal from UST – all are now eligible to play after going through a one-year residency.

Completing the pool are Aries Borja, JD Pagulayan, Jan Roluna, Jericho Cristino and Kelsey Baldoria from the defending champion Junior Altas.

However, Racela said the team will be trimmed down to 18 before the league starts.

To be able to boost their confidence and chemistry, the team competed in various tournaments in Cebu, Tacloban and pre-season events..

Perpetual will be tested in their first game of the season against SSCR Stags on Oct. 3 at the FilOil Arena in San Juan.

The Altas hope to make it back to the Final Four this season after failed bid last season when they finished a disappointing 7th place with 7-11 record.

They are in Group A with defending champion Mapua, SSCR, LPU, and Arellano, while Group B includes St. Benilde, Letran, San Beda, EAC, and JRU.
