In news that would have been groundbreaking in 2022, actress Liza Soberano has now confirmed that she and Enrique Gil have broken up almost three years ago.

Yes, three. Years.

The belated revelation came August 14 via an episode of the Can I Come In? podcast, where Liza was chatting with filmmaker Sarah Bahbah.

Apparently, she decided it was as good a time as any to mention that the whole “LizQuen” thing has been over and for quite a while already.

“I’ve been itching to tell people this because I haven’t been very truthful. Quen hasn’t been very truthful. Quen and I broke up,” Liza said, as if she had just remembered to tell someone she left the lights on in the kitchen.

But why did they keep it a secret for so long?

According to her, they did so mainly because Enrique asked her not to say anything, and she agreed. Not because of some complex PR strategy, but because saying it out loud would make it real — and also because she was worried her career might take a hit.

She admitted she once thought they’d get married, but eventually realized they were no longer “a match.”

She described the breakup as “beautiful” and “full of love,” which is exactly the kind of thing people say when they’re trying to downplay something that could prove devastating for fans.

Liza went on to say, “It was so hard for me to actually break up with him because I love him. I still love him as a person.”

Nothing bad happened she said — they simply weren’t meant to be together anymore.

Enrique Gil is yet to comment on the matter.

Maybe he’s still in shock knowing that the secret is finally out… after three years of it not being a secret to them.

And so, with one podcast interview, the love team that was has been officially confirmed as kaput.

Somewhere, a fan is probably crying into an old movie poster, while the rest of us wonder if 2026 will bring any other major celebrity news from 2023.

Next.
