Jan Wildfreed Redulla and Lhey Marie Manginsay completed their mission in grand fashion and produced the country’s lone gold medal in the 2025 ITTF World Para Future Taipei in Taiwan on Sunday, June 29.
Redulla and Manginsay showed superb chemistry and reigned in the mixed doubles class XD17 – Group 1 after sweeping their rivals that included two other PH teams and a Chinese Taipei pair to reach the top of the podium.
The Redulla-Manginsay duo opened their campaign with a rousing 11-7, 11-6, 5-11, 11-9 win over Jhona Peña and Linadr Sultan, who eventually settled for silver.
They followed it up with a hard-fought 7-11, 11-9, 11-8, 7-11, 11-6 escape against Leo Macalanda and Minnie Cadag.
The tandem then cruised past hometown bets Ren Ting Huang and Yan Ru Lin, 11-5, 6-11, 11-4, 11-8.
The golden triumph added to the bronze medal finish of Manginsay alongside Mary Eloise Sable in the women’s doubles WD20.
Redulla settled for a silver in men’s singles class 8 after bowing to Japan’s Hayuma Abe, 11-9, 13-11, 11-7, in the final.
Peña got also a silver in women’s singles class 6–7 — no thanks to a 11-5, 15-13, 11-1, 14-12 loss to Moldovan-born Russian Raisa Chebanika.
