In its effort to spread the art of Brazilian Jiujitsu and promote self defense, discipline and grit among sports-loving Filipinos, Deftac is set to open its new gym in Iloilo City this Sunday, June 28.
“I am very excited to open our first DEFTAC Iloilo gym under the DEFTAC Franchise as we have created many national champions including a 3rd place finish in the World Championship,” Chief Alvin Aguilar, first Filipino black belter and Ffunder of Deftac, said. “With establishment of a gym in Visayas, we hope to produce many champions from Iloilo,” added Aguilar, who will personally supervise the opening of the gym located on the third floor of the LBS Building on Jalandoni St., Iloilo City.
Also expected to grace are his well-decorated daughter Aielle, Prof. May Masuda, Zony Zaldarriaga, and David Zaldarriaga.
Prof. Masuda is the first Filipina world champion and Asian Beach Games gold medalist. She also holds the distinction of the being the first Filipina black belter.
Aielle Aguilar, on the other hand, needs no further introduction as she is a three-time world champion and the youngest ever. And the little darling of PH sports.
Zony Zaldarriaga is chapter head of Deftac Iloilo.
The grand launching will be preceded by a seminar at 9 a.m. to be conducted by Chief Alvin, Prof. May and Aielle Aguilar.
Brazilian jiujitsu is a self-defense system, martial art, and combat sport based on grappling, ground fighting, and submission holds – something that Deftac stakeholders want to impart to as many Filipinos
