A sport utility vehicle (SUV) driven by a 13-year-old girl collided with a van along the national highway in Barangay Ili Sur, San Juan, La Union, early Sunday morning, June 22, leaving 15 people injured.
Initial police investigation revealed that the van, bearing plate number NOA 3889 and driven by a 48-year-old resident of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, was heading northbound when it collided head-on with the SUV travelling in the opposite direction.
The SUV, with plate number BDK 225, was reportedly being driven by the young student, a resident of San Fernando City, La Union.
The incident occurred near a sharp curve, where the SUV allegedly veered into the opposite lane and collided with the van.
The van’s driver and 14 of its passengers – whose identities have yet to be confirmed – sustained injuries and were rushed to Lorma Medical Center in San Fernando City.
The teenage driver and her sole companion in the SUV were not injured were brought to Bacnotan District Hospital for medical evaluation.
