The Office of the Vice President (OVP) disclosed that it officially received the summons from the Senate impeachment court at 11:05 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11.

Vice President Sara Duterte’s office did not provide any comments regarding the previous night’s developments, where senator-judges voted 18-5-0 to remand the articles of impeachment to the House of Representatives.

Senate President Francis Escudero, presiding over the impeachment court, also issued the summons against Duterte, detailing the seven articles of impeachment.

According to the summons, Duterte has a non-extendible period of 10 days from receipt to submit her response to the accusations.

She is likewise required to appear before the Senate impeachment court at a date and time to be set by the presiding officer.

However, a media advisory from the OVP on Tuesday morning, June 10, announced that Duterte is on a “personal trip” with her family to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She will conduct official duties as a Vice President by attending the Independence Day celebration and an OVP program consultation with overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) on June 12.
