Carl Tamayo and Changwon spoiled Javi Gomez de Liaño’s best performance for Anyang as the LG Sakers decimated the JKJ Red Boosters, 77-62, for their second straight win in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) Thursday, April 3.

Tamayo looked like a man on a mission, leading the Sakers’ assault in the second half where they swiftly built a cushion to leave De Liaño and the Red Boosters in the dust.

The Gilas Pilipinas standout poured in 16 points, six rebounds, and one steal in an almost 20-minute action to top Changwon’s scoring column.

Four of his teammates ended up as well as double-digit scorers to further boost the Sakers’ offensive end en route to a 33-19 slate at second.

Also a former University of the Philippines Maroon, de Liaño waxed hot for Anyang after tallying a career-high scoring of 26 points – with 6-of-8 shooting beyond the arc – on top of five rebounds and two steals.

It was his best performance as he just suited up with his current club last month.

Those, however, went to a losing cause as the Red Boosters suffered back-to-back losses and dropped to sixth spot with a 23-29 card.

Meanwhile, JD Cagulangan and the Suwon KT Sonicboom lost their steam and absorbed a 91-71 beating from the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus.

Cagulangan, a two-time UAAP champion with UP, had a decent six points and five assists output, while Ha Yun-Gi and Rayshaun Hammonds starred with 23 and 20 points, respectively, for Suwon which fell to third with a 32-20 record.
