Out with his first-ever original tune is singer Jojo Mendrez.
Titled “Nandito Lang Ako,” the song was composed for him by Jonathan Manalo, ABS-CBN Music creatives, content, and operations head.
Said Jojo, “For me, para buo at kumpleto ang pagiging singer, dapat meron kang isang Jonathan Manalo composition.”
“Nag-take talaga ako ng tranquilizer the first day na nag-meet kami [ni Jonathan] during the recording session. Medyo complicated yung song na crineate niya gawa ng pabago-bago ang tono, tumataas sa dulo,” he added.
Jojo is recognized as The Revival King, having charted several remakes prior. These include re-imagined versions of “Basta Ikaw,” “Magkabilang Mundo,” and “Somewhere in My Past.”
He won the 2018 Star Awards for Music Revival Song of the Year for his remake of “Handog.”

His revival of “Somewhere In My Past” already got 50 million combined views across multiple platforms.
So why is he taking a different route this time?
“Gusto ko rin makita ng mga tao na kaya ko rin gumawa at magpasikat ng kantang hindi revival,” he answered.
All that said he is now gaining mileage not only from “Nandito Lang Ako” but the men he has been associating with, namely Mark Herras and Rainier Castillo.
The two have been sighted with Jojo on several occasions. Some insist there is more to it than meets the eye.
Mark added to the noise, presenting Jojo with flowers at a recent event.
Not to be outdone, Rainier made his presence felt during the launch of “Nandito Lang Ako.”
Asked about Mark and Rainier, Jojo maintained both men are just “good friends” of his.
“Nandito Lang Ako” is now available in various music streaming platforms.
