Rico Hoey limped home with a 1-over-par 73 and finished tied for 45th place in the World Wide Technology Championship in Los Cabos, Mexico on Sunday, Nov. 10.
The Fil-American Hoey failed to sustain his torrid start that saw him drop out of the title race after sharing the lead with two others in the opening round for firing a 67 each.
He wound up with a 9-under 279 total, 15 strokes behind eventual champion Aaron Eckroat in this 72-hole tournament. He shot 70 and 69 in the second and third rounds.
Despite his faltering finish, Hoey still went home richer by $19,864 (around P1.1 million)
Meanwhile, Eckroat sizzled with a 9-under 63 for a one-stroke victory over Justin Lower and Carson Young.
He finished at 24-under 264 for his second PGA Tour title, pocketing the lion’s share of the $7.2 million total purse.
