The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) said it is still studying whether there is a need to impose a deployment ban of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to China.

“It is under study,” Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said. To note, the number of confirmed 2019-novel coronavirus cases continues to rise worldwide particularly in China.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), meantime, is already coordinating with the Department of Health regarding the 2019-nCoV.

“We are communicating with the DOH regarding preventive measures to help our OFWs avoid and cope with the outbreak in China,” said OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac. (Leslie Ann Aquino)
