1 dead, 2 hurt in Muntinlupa fire

A man died while two others were injured during a fire that hit a furniture storage facility in Muntinlupa City, Thursday morning.

Authorities identified the fatality as Joseph Lepata, 40 to 50 years old, a worker at Markline Home Furniture warehouse in Tepaurel Compound, Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa City. His body was found inside a toilet cubicle.

Those injured were Renante Clavano, 26, who suffered first-degree burns on the shoulder; and one Fire Officer 1 Cervantes.

Acording to FO2 Emeliano Complativo of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Muntinlupa City, the fire originated at the upholstery room of the warehouse at around 7:07 a.m.

FO2 Complativo said it was raised to first alarm at 7:27 a.m. and was declared fire out at 8:01 a.m.

Probers have yet to determine the cause of fire that damaged an estimated P2 million worth of property. (Jonathan Hicap, Michelle Guillang)
