Malacañang will investigate the allegation that a lone contractor secured 30 infrastructure projects even if the proposed P3.575-trillion national budget for 2019 has not yet been approved.

Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo assured that Malacanang will investigate House Majority Leader Rolando Andaya Jr.’s claim that contractor Consolacion Tubuhan Leoncio bagged the projects.

“Yes, of course. We will go to the bottom of this. (Budget) Secretary (Ben) Diokno has denied any involvement in the allegation made by Congressman Andaya,” he said.

“Since there is allegation of corruption, it follows that we have to investigate,” he added.

However, Panelo said that there is nothing wrong with preselecting a contractor as long as there is no corruption.

“Kung the reason is because you want to prevent the delay of projects that requires attention or implementation for the benefit of the people, eh walang masama doon,” Panelo said.

“Ang ayaw natin kung may corruption. ‘Yun ang bottom line,” he added. (Argyll Geducos)
