A 45-year-old woman died after she was hit by a speeding motorcycle and thrown several meters along the Delpan flyover in Tondo, Manila, on Monday morning, June 29.

The victim, identified as Cynthia Lamar, a resident of Parola Compound in Barangay 20, was rushed to Gat Andres Bonifacio Medical Memorial Center but was declared dead on arrival, police said.

Initial investigation by the Manila Police District (MPD) showed that the victim was crossing the ascending portion of the flyover (southbound lane) when she was struck by a fast-moving motorcycle driven by a 26-year-old man.

Due to the impact, the victim was thrown several meters and slammed into a concrete barrier, sustaining severe injuries that led to her death.

Responding officers immediately secured the scene, assisted the victim, and managed traffic flow, as the incident disrupted traffic along the busy route.

The motorcycle rider, identified as Gervin Efsali from Cabanatuan City, was arrested and is now under police custody.

Authorities have turned over the case to the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) for further investigation and possible filing of charges.

The victim’s remains were brought to a funeral home in Tondo.
