Retired Manila police officer tops 1st ALTA Golf Cup

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – Retired Manila police officer Nelson Yabut emerged as Class A champion in the inaugural ALTA Golf Cup at the Isao Aoki Course of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Barangay Manggahan, Thursday, Jan. 29, here.

Lt. Col. and Perpetual Help Medical Center (PHMC) President Richard Antonio, University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD) – Las Piñas City campus School Director Dr. Arnaldo De Guzman, Dr. Eduardo Zialcita, Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Lorelie Siy, Executive Director, DELTA Executive Academic Audit and Accreditation Center (DEAAAC) and Liwanag Elizares, Alumni Affairs head, led the awarding of  the winners.

The tournament, also dubbed as “Swing for a Cause,” is a sports development project of the Perpetual U Las Piñas City campus and is part of the 50th founding anniversary of the academy,

A 6 handicapper, the 65-year-old Yabut tallied a net 70 in the division designed for 92 years and below.

Finishing second was Jesus Valle (net 70) while Michael Pizarro wound up third.

Allen Aquino won the Class B crown with a net 71, beating Jose Rommel Almero and Ronnie Henares.

Champion for Class C (106-Above) was Benjie Munasque with Paolo Antonio Luna and Mike Llanio finishing second and third, respectively.

Carlo Antonio Ilagan won the Lowest Gross award with a score of 76 while Carlo Crisanto Ilagan won the Lowest Net with a 70.
Henares also won the Nearest to the Pin award while Aienn Afable bagged the Longest Drive and Cyril Manalo won the Most Accurate Drive.
