It’s the dream collaboration many didn’t see coming.
Josh Groban may have performed with numerous big stars in the past, but he holds a special place in his heart for this particular Filipino singer: Julie Anne San Jose.
The award-winning singer-songwriter revealed this as he spoke warmly about the Philippines’ deep well of musical talent in an exclusive interview with GMA recently.
Known for his soaring vocals and emotive performances, Groban said Filipino artists have consistently left a lasting impression on him.
“You have such incredible artists in the Philippines that are so inspiring,” Josh told GMANetwork.com. “I have actually not ever met somebody from the Philippines who didn’t, at least a little bit, have an amazing voice.”
That appreciation soon turned into a collaboration wish when Josh named Julie Anne specifically as someone he hopes to work with in the future.
“[I hope to collaborate with] Julie Anne San Jose, who’s an incredible singer,” he said. “I would love to meet her and sing with her at some point.”
Julie Anne has long been recognized as one of the Philippines’ most versatile performers, seamlessly moving between pop, ballads, classical music, and musical theater. Her vocal precision and emotional depth have earned her both critical acclaim and a loyal fan base, making Josh’s interest feel both surprising and fitting.
While no official plans have been announced, Josh’s comments highlight the growing global recognition of Filipino talent. His praise also reflects how music transcends borders, connecting artists through shared respect and artistry, even before they meet.
